A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the N½SE¼ sec. 30, T9N, R10E, MDM, 0.8 km (0.5 mile) E of Mount Aigare (coordinates of record) and 3.1 km (1.9 miles) NE of Brandon Corner, W of Big Canyon Creek (5 miles S of Shingle Springs), on private land. The claim comprises 15 acres. Operated by T.E. Massie, C/O John Kessler. Operated during the period 1894 to 1896. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. A prospect is located in the SW¼ of the section and a tunnel is found in the NE¼.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate and serpentinite. The ore body strikes NW and dips 65NE at a thickness of 4.88 meters. The vein is 2 to 16 feet thick. Local rocks include pre-Cenozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks undivided.
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 600 foot crosscut adit, drifts, and a 30 foot shaft. A 5-stamp mill was erected.
