A former placer Au occurrence/drift mine located in sec. 16 & in the NE¼ sec. 17, T10N, R11E, MDM, 1.2 km (0.8 mile) W of Texas Hill (coordinates of record), on the western end of the hill, and about 2.1 km ESE of Placerville proper, in the headwaters area of Cedar Ravine. Property holdings comprised 150 acres. Operated during the period 1882 to 1894. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. These are probably the same as the Confidence and Globe claims listed om page 424, Logan (1926). Lindgren (1911), page 173 shows the location in the SW¼ sec. 16 and the SE¼ sec. 17.
Mineralization is a placer Au deposit hosted in the gravels of the Deep Blue Lead paleohannel. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 4,000 foot adit with numerous drifts along benches and 2 shafts. A 10-stamp mill was erected.
$130,000 (period values) was produced (1882-1894) from gravel yielding $3.25 (period values) per cubic yard.
