A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the SW¼NW¼ sec. 13, T11N, R10E, MDM, 1.1 km (0.7 mile) NNE of Kelsey, just E (1/8 mile) of the Kelsey P.O., ESE of Gopher Hill, on the E side of highway 193, on private land. The claim is comprised of 7 acres. Operated by The Karolyi Mining Co. C/O H. Summerfield (time frame unstated). Operated by J. L. Peters (time frame unstated). Operated around 1896. Prospected in 1942 and 1947. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.

NOTE: There are apparently 4 USGS MRDS files pertaining to this locality. Two files (#10162993 & 10092105) present a T&R value of sec. 23, T11N, R10E, MDM. Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate. The ore body strikes N and dips 60E at a thickness of 1.22 meters. The veins appear to increase with depth. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings with a length of 213.36 meters and an overall depth of 91.44 meters. Developed by a 300 foot inclined shaft and a 150 foot vertical shaft with drifts and crosscuts. A 10-stamp mill was erected.
