A former placer Au occurrence/drift & hydraulic mine located in the SW¼NW¼ (topo map places it in the NE¼NE¼) sec. 15, T13N, R11E, MDM, 2.0 km (1.2 miles) NNE of Kentucky Flat (coordinates of record), in the headwaters area of Missouri Canyon, on private land. Property totals 201.66 acres. Active prior to and during 1896, when operated by the Two Channel Mining Company. Some work was done around 1922. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters. Logan (1938) shows location in the SW¼NW¼, SW¼, W½SE¼ (from U.S. Land Office records); later references show the location in the NE¼.
Mineralization is a placer Au deposit. The gravel is well-cemented and the Au is coarse. Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
Workings include underground openings. The main, or White, channel was hydraulicked. The Blue channel was developed by a 1,500 foot adit. A 10-stamp mill was erected.
