A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the SE¼NW¼ sec. 1, T8N, R10E, MDM, 1.8 km (1.1 miles) E of Nashville, on the W side of East Big Canyon, E of the North Fork Cosumnes River and highway 49, on private land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Operated circa 1890. Location shown is the approximate center N½ of the section [Logan (1934)].
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate of the Calaveras Formation. The ore body strikes NW and dips 60NE. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 76.2 meters and an overall depth of 76.2 meters and comprised of a 250 foot shaft.
