A Cu-Au occurrence located in sec. 15, T12N, R9E, MDM, 1.2 km (0.7 mile) WSW of Penobscot Farm and 4.1 km (2.6 miles) W of Greenwood, E of Black Rock Creek. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
NOTE: "USGS MRDS database file #10029822 contains the note: USGS quad. Greenwood, Calif., 1950, shows Greenwood as being located in the SW cor sec. 7 & NW cor sec. 18, T12N, R10E. Some of the references noted in the reference shown below show the mine as being in sec. 26, T13N, R10E, but the early references would indicate location more nearly as shown above." The mention of the locastion of Greenwood is seemingly not related to the topic and is nonsensical. The Homestead Mine located in sec. 26 is apparently a separate mine and is covered in other USGS MRDS database files and a separate Mindat file. The mention of references noted in the reference shown below is incomplete research and documentation regarding the location of this occurrence.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. The ore body is 4.27 meters wide (thick ??). Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
No record of production was found.
