A placer Au occurrence located in the SW¼ sec. 24, T13N, R9E, MDM, 1.7 km (1.0 mile) NW of Spanish Dry Diggings, S of the Middle Fork American River, ENE of Cherokee Flat and NNE of Summit Hill, on private land. 5 claims lie partly in El Dorado County and partly in Placer County in the steep canyon of the river. Recent work was done in El Dorado County. Operated by Wayne Huckaby. Operated during the period 1921 to 1928 and in 1934. Prospected in 1954. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of an open cut 150 feet wide and a 450 foot adit. A 10-stamp mill was erected.
Less than 2,000 tons in all were mined (1921-1928), that varied from $3 to $40 (period values) Au/ton.
