A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the W½NW¼ sec. 29 (part in sec. 32 ?), T13N, R10E, MDM, 3.2 km (2.0 miles) ENE of French Hill (coordinates of record), on the divide between Canyon Creek and New Orleans Gulch, S of the Middle Fork American River (just W of Jones Hill; 4 miles NW of Georgetown). Operated by Mamie E. Forni. Operated in the early 1890's. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. Logan (1934), Pl. II shows both sections.
Mineralization is a Au vein/seam deposit. The ore body is 91.44 meters wide. The quartz seams occur in a belt that is 200 to 300 feet wide. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of an open cut and a sluice and prospect shafts and adits.
