Le glacier d'Argentière, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, arrondissement de Bonneville, Haute-Savoie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France


"(Coming from Chamonix-Mont-Blanc). Close to the glacier, on the 'crête de Charlet-Straton' ['Charlet-Straton ridge'] there is albite, chlorite, fluorite, epidote, and colourless and smoky quartz.
In the granites of the 'crête de la Tour Noire' ['Tour Noire ridge'] [https://www.mindat.org/loc-268244.html], there is albite, aragonite, calcite, and quartz.
At the 'Pointe des Améthystes', there is amethyst, albite, ankerite, hematite, and smoky quartz." [Belot, 1978]

In 2008, the commune of Chamonix has released new rules for mineral collecting; a permit has to be obtained at the mayor's office (Lapis 34 (2009) p. 5).
