A former placer Au occurrence/drift mine located in the NE¼SW¼ sec. 16, T10N, R11E, MDM, 0.8 km (0.5 mile) SW of Texas Hill (coordinates of record) and about 2.3 km (1.3 mile SE of Placerville center and about 2.65 km SW of Smithflat, on the S side of Texas Hill. The second name (Tackey) may not be the same mine. Operated during the early days of the gold rush. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of an adit several hundred feet long.
