A former lode Au mine located in the SW¼NE¼ & in the NW¼SE¼ sec. 26, T11N, R10E, MDM, about 2.8 km (2 miles) SSW of Kelsey and 1.6 km (1.0 mile) NW of Chili Bar, W of Kelsey Canyon and N of the South Fork American River, on private land. Discovered in 1872. Property consisted of 20 acres. Operated by P. C. Stingle. Operated during the period 1872 to 1875 & in 1901. Production years were 1872 to 1875. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in diabase and slate. The ore body strikes NW and dips 70E at a thickness of 1.83 meters. The hanging wall is slate and the footwall is diabase. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 60.96 meters and comprised of a 200 foot shaft and a 50 foot adit. A mill was erected on site. The workings have been inaccessible for
years.

The ore yielded $7 to $15 (period values) per ton.
