A former placer Au occurrence/drift mine located in the SE¼NW¼, NE¼SW¼ and NW¼SE¼ of sec. 17, T10N, R11E, MDM, about 1.65 km (about 1 mile) S of Placerville center, on the S side of Cedar Ravine (White Rock Canyon). Operated from the 1870's until about 1901. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
A deep channel with benches was also mined. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 900 foot SSE adit and a 75 foot incline plus a lower adit.
