A former lode/seam Au occurrence/hydraulic mine located in the SE¼NW¼ sec. 27, T12N, R10E, MDM, 1.3 km (0.8 mile) NNE of Garden Valley, on the divide between Manhattan Creek and Empire Creek, N of Garden Valley School. Operated in the early days. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a Au deposit. The ore body is 5.49 meters thick. There are 2 quartz veins separated by 3½ feet of slate in a seam zone 18 feet thick. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface openings with an overall length of 30.48 meters and an overall width of 21.34 meters, including a hydraulicked open pit 100 feet long, 70 feet wide and 18 feet deep.
