A former lode Au mine located in the SE¼NW¼ sec. 24, T11N, R10E, MDM, 1.1 km (0.7 mile) S of Kelsey, N of Texas Canyon, on private land. Operated by H. J. Picchetti. The claim is comprised of 10.33 acres. Adjoins the Grey Eagle claim on the S. Operated in the 1890's and 1930's. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.

The property was originally located by James W. Marshall. It was worked for pocket Au during the 1930's and several fine specimens of crystallized gold were recovered. The deposit is on the Mother Lode Belt.

Mineralization is a vein/pocket deposit hosted in Mariposa slate. The ore body strike N12W and dips 70E at a thickness of 4.57 meters. Crystalline Au occurs in pockets. On surface near the shaft the footwall rock is an amphibolite schist dike, and the section across the claim shows in order going E: bands of porphyry (altered/obscure), soapstone, ankerite, and talcose schist. The vein matter is 15 feet wide and is composed of stringer leads of quartz and carbonates in altered schist and Mariposa slate 50 feet wide. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 103.63 meters. an overall length of 228.6 meters and an overall width of 4.57 meters. The mine is developed by an open cut 750 feet long and a 340 foot vertical shaft with 4 levels at 60, 120, 227 & 323 feet. The vein is intersected by the shaft at 240 feet. There are numerous drifts.

Production data are found in: Logan, Clarence August (1934).

Most of the ore was low-grade with average values from $1.75 to $2.25 (period values) per ton.
