A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 16, T8N, R9E, MDM, 2.0 km (1.3 miles S of Latrobe. Operated around 1896. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10,000 meters (sic). Might be in sec. 18 or 19. Clark, Wm. B. & D.W. Carlson (1956) gives T8N, R8E, but geographical description would indicate township 8N, 9E. NOTE: geographic coordinates provided in the 2 MRDS files present discrepant data placing the mine in either sec. 17 or sec. 21, both of which are contiguous with sec. 16.
Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a shaft and a 240 foot crosscut adit. A 2-stamp mill was erected.
