A former lode Au mine located in secs. 15 & 16, T12N, R10E, MDM, 0.7 km m(0.5 miles) SSE of Fornis and 2.9 km (9,500 feet) SW of Georgetown, along Manhattan Creek, on private land. Operated during the late 1860's, 1888, 1902, 1912, and 1933 to 1938. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in amphibolite. The ore body strikes NW and dips 60NE at a depth to top 0.00 meters. Controls for ore emplacement included flat-dipping ore shoots, about 100 feet long at fault intersections with the vein. The quartz is white and sugary. Most of the Au is free and finely disseminated. Minor amounts of sulfides are present in the ore (about 0.5%). Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Local geologic structures include: A number of South-dipping veins cross the ore vein and dip 25S.
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 400 foot shaft with levels at 100, 200, 300, 350 and 400 feet, and a 430 sub-level.
