A graphite-limestone occurrence located in the SW¼ sec. 31, T15S, R9E, SBM, 6.4 km (4.0 miles) W of Carrizo Mountain (coordinates of record), 13.8 km (8.6 miles) NW of Coyote Wells and 11.9 km (7.4 miles) NW of Ocotillo, along the southern slope of the Coyote Mountains. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a sedimentary deposit hosted in Late Permian metasedimentary rock. The ore body is bedded, tabular, strikes N85E and dips 65SE at a thickness of 30.48 meters, width of 91.44 meters and a length of 365.76 meters. The upper 50 feet of the unit is coarsely crystalline, banded, white and gray limestone (marble). Banding 0.25 inch to paper thin due to the presence of graphite. The lower 50 feet is dolomitic limestone. Local rocks include pre-Cenozoic granitic and metamorphic rocks undivided and/or Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.
