A former Au-Ag occurrence/mine located about 12.0 km W of Picacho Peak (summit), W side of Indian Wash and S of Indian Pass, on the southern flank of the Chocolate Mountains. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. Includes Little York.
Mineralization is a Au-Ag deposit (Deposit model: 104: Hot-spring Au-Ag). Gravels deposited on Tertiary channel of the Yuba River trending N to NW, are well-cemented, and contain a high percentage of quartz, capped by a thick unit of fine gravel. The bedrock consists of some slate and chert. Local rocks include Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.
Related tectonic structures: Back-arc extensional cratonic basin.
Workings include hydraulic mining infrastructure.
