A Cu occurrence/prospect located in the N½ sec. 2, T13S, R20E, SBM, 1.3 km (0.8 mile) E of Black Mountain (coordinates of record), along the S of Julian Wash, along the southern slope of the Chocolate Mountains. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. NOTE: Since this locality is S of Quartz Peak, by definition, it is in the Chocolate Mountains District, not the Paymaster District.

Mineralization is hosted in andesite and phyllite. The ore body is irregular at a width of 3.05 meters and a length of 60.96 meters. One quartz vein contains fine-grained black tourmaline. Narrow dikes of acidic to intermediate composition that intruded a metamorphic unit composed of meta-andesite, phyllite and meta-conglomerate. The metamorphic unit is thinly overlain by a gently tilted Pliocene (?) basalt flow. A 10 foot mineralized zone occurs in section 12. Another vein located 500 feet W of bulldozer cuts is contained in an 8 foot shear zone that appears to trend N25W and dips steeply NE. The host rock there is a gray phyllite. There is evidence of other veins beneath basalt debris through float material. The zone consists of irregular veins of quartz and copper oxides. Local rocks include Tertiary volcanic flow rocks, unit 15 (Southern Mojave Desert) and/or pre-Cenozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks undivided.

Workings include surface openings with an overall depth of 3 meters, overall length of 200 meters and an overall width of 10 meters and comprised of a 15 degree inclined cut 200 feet long by 10 feet wide by 3 feet deep. A pit 100 feet in diameter has a maximum depth of 10 feet, plus several smaller cuts.

Analytical data results: 4 samples averaged 2.4% Cu for the mineralized zone.
