A S-gypsum deposit/mine located in the S½ sec. 6, T16S, R10E, SBM, 4.5 km (2.8 miles) ESE of Carrizo Mountain (coordinates of record), on Bureau of Land Management administered land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
NOTE: The geographic coordinates provided by MRDS for this locality placed it in San Diego County. The error was 1 degree of longitude (115° versus 116°), and was corrected accordingly.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Great Smoky Group (sedimentary rock) and/or Pliocene clastic sedimentary rock of the Imperial Formation. The ore body is a blanket at a thickness of 2.44 meters. Local rocks include pre-Cenozoic granitic and metamorphic rocks undivided and/or Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.
Workings include unspecified surface openings.
