A former Mn mine located in the SE¼ sec. 6, T18N, R6W, MDM, 0.4 km (1,200 feet) W of Sugarloaf Hill (coordinates of record) (on slope of hill). Discovered in 1918. Owned and operated by the Brown and Moore Ranch, California (1974). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Amador Group/M to L. The ore body strikes N60W and dips 60 - 65SW at a width of 1.83 meters and a length of 15.24 meters. Black oxide ore occurs in pockets and irregular masses in massive, yellow-brown quartzose chert. The ore is psilomelane and includes pyrolusite. The massive chert is overlain by thin-bedded green chert, mixed with some white and red chert. The chert is bound by a fault contact with shale and sandstone. Local rocks include rocks of the Franciscan melange.
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a shaft, a drift and three cuts.
