Köppen climate type:
A Mn occurrence/prospect located the NE¼NE¼ sec. 35 (May be in sec. 36, as in bulletin 152, but locations give it in sec. 35.), T21N, R7W, MDM, 10.0 km (6.2 miles) E of Alder Springs, along the Salt Creek, E of Sanhedrin Ridge, on National Forest land. Operated by L. D. Stall, H. A. and Raymond Butler. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Calaveras Formation (clastic sedimentary rock). The ore body strikes N55E and dips 50NW at a width of 1.22 meters and a length of 3.05 meters. Films and 1/8 inch veinlets of manganese oxide, chiefly psilomelane with some pyrolusite, occur in a bed 3 to 4 feet wide of massive, slaty chert. It is cut by quartz veinlets, ¼ inch thick.. It is overlain by a gray schistose sandstone and has a fault contact with a yellowish green sericite schist. Local rocks include Franciscan schist.
Workings include surface openings (open cut).
Too low a grade to be of economic value.
