Köppen climate type:
A Mn prospect located in sec. 26, T21N, R8W, MDM, 0.9 km (3,100 feet) SW of Alder Springs, on National Forest land (located claim). Operated by W. E. Sale and Charles A. Butler. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
The ore body strikes N20E and dips 35W at a length of 53.34 meters. Manganese oxides occur within a massive bed, 3½ feet wide, on dark green slaty chert. Chiefly psilomelane, with some pyrolusite, occur as films and veinlets up to 1/8 inch thick along fractures and to some extent penetrating the rock. The attitude of the manganiferous bed is essentially parallel with the schistosity of the enclosing schists. The bed is overlain by yellow-green sericite schist and underlain by a bed of dark gray schistose sandstone, which in turn is underlain by sericite schist similar to that above. Local rocks include rocks of the Franciscan Complex, unit 1 (Coast Ranges).
Workings incluse surface and underground openings comprised of a 10 foot tunnel and open cuts.
Analytical data results: Estimated grade is less than 10% Mn. No economic value.
