A former Ag-Au mine located in the SW¼NW¼ sec. 25, T1N, R1W, MDM, 0.9 km (0.5 mile; 2,900 feet) NE of Eagle Peak (coordinates of record), along Back Creek (eastern foot of the mountain), on state owned land (Mount Diablo State Park). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters. Prospected for AU & Ag but not developed.
The deposit is Cu- & Fe-oxides in a vein in altered diabase. The vein strikes N and dips 45W. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 1 (Coast Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 10 foot adit driven N70W.
An ore specimen contained Fe, Cu & a trace of Mn. It was reported that 113 pounds of ore assayed $119 (period values) per ton Au+Ag.
