A former Au-Ag-Cu occurrence/mine located in the SW¼SE¼NE¼ sec. 26, T1N, R1W, MDM, 0.5 km (0.3 mile; 1,600 feet) NNE of Eagle Peak (coordinates of record), on the NE slope of the mountain, on state owned land (Mount Diablo State Park). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Cu & Fe oxide minerals occur in brecciated diabase. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 1 (Coast Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of 80 feet of drifts and crosscuts plus a 22 foot deep winze.
production information: 30 tons of ore with a content of 40% sulfides were mined in the winze and milled at North Beach, San Francisco.
Some assays were at $40-$45 (period values) Au + Ag/ton.
