A former Cu-Ag-Au occurrence/mine located in the NW¼NW¼ sec. 23, T1N, R1W, MDM, 1.3 km (0.8 mile) ESE of Diablo (town), along the N side of Green Valley. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters. Operated in 1901 and 1918.
Mineralization is hosted in diabase. Copper minerals containing some Au & Ag occur in brecciated diabase. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 1 (Coast Ranges) and/or Plio-Pleistocene and Pliocene loosely consolidated deposits.
Workings include surface openings comprised of 2 adits (inaccessible). The Mount Zion adit was said to be about 1,100 feet long.
No production was reported.
Analytical data results: Assays of Au-0Ag & Cu equaled $4.75 (period values)/ton.
