A former Ag-Cu-Au mine located in secs. 2 & 3, T12S, R29E, MDM, 3.6 km (2.2 miles) NNW of Wren Peak (coordinates of record), along the Middle Fork Kings River, W of Wren Creek, on National Forest wilderness land (Monarch Wilderness). First production was in 1915. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit, with a vein from a few inches to 2 feet in thickness, hosted in schist and slate. The ore body is 0.61 meter thick. Associated rocks include granite. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a 30 foot shaft, an 8 foot drift, a 50 foot adit and small surface cuts.
Production statistics: Year: 1915: 11 tons of ore containing 846 pounds Cu, 103 ounces (3,204 grams) Ag, and 0.92 ounces (29 grams) Au, were mined in 1915.
