A former Cr occurrence/mine located in secs. 14 & 15, T12S, R24E, MDM, 1.1 km (0.7 mile) W of Hog Mountain (coordinates of record), on the western slope of the mountain. No. 4 of 5 claims in Saddle Blanket group. MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 1,000 meters.
The ore body is irregular in form at a width of 0.91 meter. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains)
The chromite deposits of Watts Valley occur on the eastern limb of a synclinal, NE-plunging, ultramafic sill. The eastern limb, known as Hog Mountain, is a little over 1 mile wide, while the western limb, which forms Red Mountain, averages 3 miles wide. The 2 limbs join to the NW and together form a discontinuous, triangular exposure of peridotite 10 miles long and 8 miles wide across the base.
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of an open cut 31 feet long and an adit 22 feet long.

Operations were discontinued after 1916 production.
