A former placer Au mine located in sec. 18, T9S, R28E, MDM, 6.5 km (4.0 miles) SW of Castle Peak and 2.6 km (8,400 feet) ENE of Fowler Mountain, near the Wishon powerhouse, on the N shore of Kerckhoff Lake (San Joaquin River). MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
NOTE: This locality is situated on the Madera County-Fresno County line. The USGS MRDS database presents coordinates that place it on the Madera County side of the river. The same file also states that it is in Fresno County and that the local rocks are "water." It would seem that the locality was actually on the course of the San Joaquin River prior to the creation of the reservoir (Kerckhoff Lake). It is placed in Madera County in this file based on the coordinates presented.
