A former Au mine located in sec. 30, T3N, R13E, MDM, 1.9 km (1.2 miles) W of Altaville and about 4 km WNW of Angels Camp (2½ miles NW of Anfgels Camp), N of Negro Hill. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in slate and phyllite located on the Mother Lode. The deposit consists of veins and lenses of quartz in slaty, splintery and schistose diabase, altered to chloritic & talcose schists. Reticulated systems of small quartz veins are common. Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of several shallow shafts and more recent surface prospecting holes.
