A reported Au occurrence located in sec. 6, T3N, R14E, MDM, 1.6 km (1.0 mile) W of Murphys, SW of Rocky Hill (on the Schwerer Ranch). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a placer Au deposit located on the Central Hill paleochannel. Apparently the gravel lies in cavernous limestone or there has been some faulting. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
A 15 inch (38 cm) test drill hole was sunk through the limestone capping to the gravel. In 1936 plans were to sink an incline shaft to the bottom of the deposit.
