A former lode Au mine located in sec. 19, T4N, R12E, MDM, about 4 km NNE of Calaveritas, on the N side of Old Gulch (4 miles SW of Mountain Ranch). Operated in 1898. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in greenstone and slate. The ore body strikes NW and dips NE at a thickness of 4.27 meters. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 128 foot shaft.
Production data are found in: Clark, Wm. B. & P.A. Lydon (1962).
A small amount of Au was produced in 1898.
