A stone (crushed/broken) deposit located in the N½ sec. 12, T3N, R9E, MDM, 6.6 km (4.1 miles) W of Rancho Calaveras and 6.8 km (4.2 miles) NW of Jenny Lind, SE of Bald Mountain. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is lens-like beds of pumice conglomerate and cross-bedded tuffaceous sandstone in a 20 foot tuff layer in the Valley Springs Formation. The conglomerate is consolidated and contains angular fragments of pumice to 1 inch (2.5 cm) diameter, and rounded fragments up to 8 inches (20 cm), in pumicite matrix. The pumice is more abundant on the western side of the property. Local rocks include Miocene nonmarine rocks.
Workings include surface openings comprised of 3 small pits mined by stripping overburden, pushing the pumice onto a ramp and passing it through a ¾ inch (2 cm) screen into trucks. Product used for concrete aggregate.
Production was intermittent.
