A former Au mine located in the SE¼ (?) sec. 29 & in the NE¼ 32, T3N, R13E, MDM, 0.9 km (0.6 mile) SSW of Altaville and about 2.35 km WNW of Angels Camp. Active prior to 1892 and intermittently thereafter until 1925. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters. Map GP-561 shows several mine locations in the SE¼ sec. 29 & in the NE¼ sec. 32.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in amphibolite and schist. The vein strikes N45W and dips NE. Local rocks include Undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings comprised of an inclined shaft 150 feet with levels at 100 feet and 150 feet. A 3-stamp mill, 1 vanner, a small hoist and buildings were on the property.
Production data are found in: Clark, Wm. B. & P.A. Lydon (1962).
Less than 100 tons of ore were milled. Reported to have assayed well and to have yielded $4/ton (period values) in Au, with an unknown amount of sulfides. This came from the 100 foot level, but about 50 feet of work on the 150 foot level was said to assay too low to make the ore profitable. The last ore milled yielded $7.50 per ton (period values) of Au.
