A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the center S½ sec. 14 & in sec. 23, T4N, R13E, MDM, 0.6 km (0.4 mile) S of Cave City, on the divide between O'Neil Creek and McKinney Creek (5 miles NW of Murphys). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in mica schist. The ore body strikes N & E and dips S at a thickness of 4.57 meters. The veins are thin. The quartz ledge is 3 to 15 feet thick with some high-grade pockets. Limestone occurs to the NE. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 100 foot crosscut driven NW on the vein with a 100 foot drift to the E.
