A former lode Au mine located in the S½ (estimated) sec. 10, T5N, R13E, MDM, about 5.65 km (about 4 miles) SSW of Railroad Flat, along Esperanza Creek. Reopened in 1932 and operated for 1 year. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in mica schist. The ore body is 3.66 meters. The ledge is up to 12 feet thick with abundant sulfides (vein carries base ore). Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 45.72 meters and comprised of a 150 foot shaft with levels at 50, 100, 130, and 140 feet. Total drifts amount to 170 feet with driven S on the 30, 50 and 100 foot levels. A 4-stamp mill and 2 flotation cells were erected and remain on the property.
