A former lode Au mine located in the N½ (estimated) sec. 3, T3N, R12E, MDM, 5.1 km (3.2 miles) NNW of Bear Mountains (coordinates of record) and 2.9 km (1.8 miles) NW of Mount Ararat (coordinates of record), on the Bear Mountains ridge summit (4 miles SW of San Andreas). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate and phyllite. The ore body strikes NW and dips NE. Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided) and/or Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a shaft and a 400 foot adit.
