A former lode Au mine located in the W½ sec. 30, T3N, R14E, MDM, 0.8 km (0.5 mile) SSW of Vallecito. Property was an unpatented claim. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. Gere, crib (1972) notes activity prior to 1896.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in mica schist. The ore body strikes W and dips N. Sulfides are abundant. Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range) and/or Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 60 foot shaft and a 300 foot drift.
