A former Au mine located in sec. 25, T5N, R11E, MDM, about 2.65 km ENE of Golden Gate Hill, at Lombardi Ranch in Old Woman Gulch (about 2½ miles S of Mokelumne Hill (town)). Property consisted of 40 acres. First operated in 1878 but idled prior to 1900. Operated again during the period 1917 to 1920. Also operated in/around 1936. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a placer Au deposit located on the Red Lead paleochannel. The exposed gravel is partly cemented and is mixed with clay. It is from 60 to 80 feet deep. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings. The gravel was struck by a 376 foot, E-trending, inclined tunnel in 1879. A 5-stamp mill was installed in 1878. 2 to 4 men employed in 1936.
Production information: 27,400 cubic yards of gravel was washed during the period 1917 to 1920. Later (1936 period ?) from 50 to 75 cubic yards of gravel was washed daily. Gravel was said to run 50 (?) a cubic yard.
