A former placer Au occurrence/drift mine located in sec. 25, T5N, R11E, MDM, about 2.65 km ENE of Golden Gate Hill, at the Lombardi Ranch, Old Woman Gulch (3 miles S of Mokelumne Hill [town]). Operated in the 1900's. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a placer Au deposit located on the Deep Blue Lead paleochannel, which trends SW at 80 to 100 feet wide. The gravel is 4 to 6 feet deep. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada) and/or Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 150 foot vertical shaft. A 5-stamp mill was erected on the site.
