A former placer Au occurrence/drift mine located in sec. 11, T4N, R11E, MDM, about 5 km WNW of San Andreas along Latimer Gulch. Operated prior to 1914. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a placer Au deposit located on the S-trending Deep Blue paleochannel. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 616 foot, 20 dwegree inclined shaft on rim. Drifts were driven 500 feet N and 450 feet S. The gravel was treated in a 4-stamp mill.
Said to have yielded $80,000 (period values) prior to 1914.
