A former placer Au-Ag-Zr occurrence/hydraulic mine located in the SE¼ sec. 15, T4N, R9E, MDM, 1.2 km (0.8 mile) ENE of Wallace, along the San Joaquin County line. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 - 1,000 meters (2 USGS MRDS database files).

Local rocks include Miocene nonmarine rocks.

Mineralization is a placer Au deposit with gravel at 5 to 40 feet thick. Gravel contains 10% boulders and 20% clay. Zircon occurs in the sands at Wallace (concentration of 128 pounds of zircon per ton of black sand).

Production statistics: 4½ million (4,500,000) cubic yards of gravel were washed prior to 1932. 10,000 cubic yards were washed in the early 1940's, which recovered 286 ounces of Au and 14 ounces of Ag. Dredged by dragline in the late 1930's. Gravel was mined in 1941 by bulldozers. The washing plant was stationary.
