A former placer Au-Ag occurrence/mine located in the W½ sec. 23, T3N, R13E, MDM, about 4 km WNW of Vallecito, E of Angels Creek (2½ miles NE of Angels Camp; just N of Val Ranch Mine). Owned by Mrs. Giovanni Val. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. USGS map GP-561 reflects 2 mines in the SW¼ of the section.
Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada) and/or pre-Cenozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks undivided.
Workings included surface operations. The deposit was worked by power shovel and stationary washing plant in 1941.
Production information: 11,270 cubic yards of gravel yielded 298 ounces of Au and 30 ounces of Ag.
