A placer Au occurrence/drift mine located in the NE¼ sec. 11, T4N, R11E, MDM, about 4.6 km (3 miles) NW of San Andreas (just S of the Last Chance drift mine). Owned by C. W. Neilsen. Operated prior to 1893. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a placer Au deposit located on the Deep Blue Lead paleochannel. The shaft penetrates 2 feet of surface gravel, 80 feet of lava, 8 feet of cemented gravel to boulder-laden pay gravel. The Au is 845 fine. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a shaft about 90 feet deep.
