A former lode Au mine located in sec. 14 (sec. 16 ??), T4N, R13E, MDM, 1.1 km (0.7 mile) SSW of Cave City, along McKinney Creek (2¼ miles SE of Mountain Ranch). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 5,000 meters.
NOTE: There are 3 USGS MRDS database files pertaining to this locality. Files #10076496 & 10163112 reference each other and provide geographic coordinates that place this locality in sec. 16. File #10163112 states that the accuracy of this data is 5,000 meters. MRDS file #10102739 provides coordinates placing the locality in sec. 14 and describes it as on the ridge between McKinney Creek and O'Neil Creek, in agreement with the coordinates.
Mineralization is hosted in schist. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
