A former lode Au-soapstone occurrence/mine located in the NE¼ (estimated) sec. 14, T2N, R13E, MDM, 0.5 km (0.3 mile) WNW of Carson Hill (town), along Carson Creek (2¾ miles SE of Angels Camp). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit on the Mother Lode, hosted in greenschist. The ore body strikes NW and dips NE with a 2 foot thick vein. Crude soapstone was treated and used for building stone. Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 30.48 meters and comprised of a 100 foot shaft.
Production data are found in: Clark, Wm. B. & P.A. Lydon (1962).
100 tons of tops stone shipped in November, 1927. No other production record was found.
