A former lode Au mine located in the SW¼ (estimated) sec. 3, T2N, R13E, MDM, about 2.5 km (1½ miles) S of Angels Camp, WNW of Albany Flat. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein & pocket deposit hosted in greenstone. The ore body strikes N and dips E at a thickness of 15.24 meters. The vfein is 10 to 50 feet thick on the Mother Lode. The Dead Horse Pb vein is 10 feet thick at the 200 foot level, 50 feet at the 300 foot level, and 30 feet at the 400 foot level. Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings comprised of an 850 foot deep shaft with levels at 100 foot intervals except at the 700 foot level. A 900 foot drifts(s) were driven on the 500 foot level.

In the early days $30,000 (period values) in Au was taken from shallow pockets.
