A former lode Au mine located in the S½ sec. 33, T3N, R13E, MDM, 0.7 km (0.4 mile) W of Angels Camp proper. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in schist and greenstone. The ore body strikes WNW and dips 60N. Controls for ore emplacement included a 15 foot thick zone of altered mineralized amphibolite schist. Deposit is located on a short, westerly branch of the Mother Lode called the Madison-Gold Cliff vein. The ore was reported as broken and scattered by faulting. Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 480 foot shaft on a 60 degree incline with levels at 100 feet apart. Drifts are from 60 to 300 feet long.
Production data are found in: Clark, Wm. B. & P.A. Lydon (1962).
Total production during the period 1911 to 1913 was less than $90,000 (period values).
Ore is mostly low grade.
Analytical data results: 1½ to 2% sulfides.
