A Cr occurrence/mine located in the SW¼ sec. 31, T5N, R11E, MDM, 3.2 km (2.0 miles) ESE of Camp Pardee, on the N side of Cosgrove Creek (The boundary of the Pardee watershed protection area runs directly over some of the workings). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a number of small, irregular lenses and pods dipping 60E and trending N25W. The country rock is schistose serpentinized saxonite. Small amounts of kammererite is associated with the ore. Veinlets of chrysotile asbestos are associated with the chromite in the matrix rock. Deposit consists of small irregular Chromite lenses and pods in Serpentine with Enstatite. Strike is N 25° W. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of 3 small pits, a 12 foot deep shaft, and a number of small trenches.
