A former Au mine located in sec. 31, T4N, R14E, MDM, 2.0 km (1.3 miles) NNW of Murphys, along a tributary of San Domingo Creek. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
NOTE: USGS MRDS database file #10110480 presents geographic coordinates of -120.41767, 38.14991 (38°8'59"N, 120°25'03"W). Those coordinates place the mine tio the NE of Murphys, while files #10029493 and #10211381 present coordinates which essentially agree on the geographic coordinates with minor deviations, placing the mine NNW of Murphys (despite file #10029493 describing the location as NE of Murphys). The coordinates from file #10029493 are provided in this Mindat file, since they place the mine closest to the road leading into the area and apparent flooded open pit on the topo map.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. Local rocks include Limestone of probable Paleozoic or Mesozoic age and/or Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
